Upcoming Non-GPFS Events of Interest

The NFA Convention is coming to New York, New York from August 13 - 16, 2009. Sir James Galway will be the featured 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, to be honored at the annual Gala Dinner on Saturday night, August 15. Galway also will perform, teach, and oversee a workshop for ages 8-17 and adult amateurs and lead an attempt to break the world record for the largest flute ensemble! Other highlights include a Telemann-a-thon with almost six consecutive hours of every duet Telemann ever wrote for the flute and a late-night reading of a Tallis Motet for 40 flutes. The best of the standards will return, of course, including competitions, flute choirs, performance health workshops, and concerts and recitals galore.
